North Scituate Literacy Center
Located steps from the train stop in the village of North Scituate, one can find Literacy Boosts, a literacy center founded in 2007 by Jan Yeh a speech-language therapist and certified Orton-Gillingham practioner. The center provides individualized tutoring, small group instruction and support services for individuals struggling with language, critical thinking, reading, writing, or executive functioning. Children and adolescents with learning disabilities have unique styles of learning which require specialized methods of instruction that often require more time and intensity than available in the school environment. Those who receive appropriate therapeutic instruction and support make gains not only in academic performance, but in self-knowledge as a learner and in self-confidence in the world.
